Call for Speakers

The Microgrid World Congress will focus on the latest technology advances and business models for the deployment of renewable energy microgrids around the world. A series of in-depth presentations and interactive panel discussions
will examine the most relevant case studies, technologies, and lessons learned to date. The objective is to give attendees a solid understanding of the current status of microgrid
systems for remote, off-grid, island, and grid-connected environments. Emphasis will be on business models for utility and end user value creation and how best to design and deploy microgrid technologies in a range of environments.

The session schedule and faculty of speakers for the conference is currently in development. Industry professionals who are interested in delivering a presentation
or organizing a panel discussion session are encouraged to submit a proposal by Friday, February 13, 2015. Topics to be address include, but are not limited to:
Track I: Business Issues, Opporunities and Challenges
- Microgrid business models and economics
- Considerations for island, remote, and off-grid systems
- Solar PV + energy storage applications and case studies
- System design for minimizing cost and maximizing clean energy sources
- Grid-tied, utility distribution microgrids and integration with the macrogrid
- Non-technical issues in microgrid planning and deployment
- Creating value from renewables integration: defining the business model
- Virtual Power Plant (VPP) systems and deployments to date
- Regulatory and public policy considerations
- Microgrids and the emerging Transactive Energy paradigm
Track II: Technology Advances, Applications, and Case Studies
- System architectures and alternatives
- Microgrid design, analysis, and feasiblity planning tools
- Microgrid power control systems
- Solar generation microgrids for rural applications
- Maximizing the utilization of renewables and sustainable energy sources
- System modeling and analytical tools
- Energy storage advances: flow batteries, fuel cells, advanced battery technologies, etc.
- Emerging technologies and latest applications
- Standards and interoperability issues
- Interconnecting and interacting with the utility grid
Guidelines for Submitting a Speaking Proposal
Seminar sessions are 90 minutes in length and typically feature three speakers, each presenting for approximately 25 minutes.
Individuals who wish to deliver a presentation or organize a panel session with multiple speakers should submit the following:
1. Speaker name, title, company, and contact information
2. Presentation title (or title of panel session)
3. Abstract of presentation or panel session (150 - 200 words)
4. Speaker biography and photo
5. Bullet list of 4-5 Key Learning Points from the presentation or panel session
Proposals must be emailed to info@smartgridobserver.com by Friday, February 13, 2015.
Additional Guidance
- We ask that proposals be non-commercial in nature. Submissions will be carefully reviewed by the Program Advisory Group to ensure depth of information and relevance to the program.
- Sponsorship of the conference is not a requirement for participating as a speaker. However, there are a limited number of sponsorship options that do involve a speaking engagement. For

- Proposals that include an utility or project-owner / developer presenter are encouraged.
